Verizon / Westell 2200 Instructions

Things you need before you get started:

=A8=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Do you have an Ethernet Card in your computer?
=A8=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Do you have the DSL modem?
=A8=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Has the due date from Verizon arrived?
=A8=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Do you have your operating system CD?
=A8=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Are you using a router? A router will allow you =
to link=20
multiple computers to the DSL line. If so, refer to the manual that=20
came with your router for configuration. Router configuration is your=20
responsibility. see below

Things you need to decide before you get started:
1.=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0This unit can be used as a modem/router combination =
unit or=20
just a modem. You would want it to be just a modem if you are using a=20
wireless router. We recommend using it as a modem/router.
2.=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Are you hooking up more than one computer to the DSL =
line? If=20
so, you will need a =93dumb-hub.=94 Be sure NOT to buy a router.
3.=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Choose a username and password for the modem/router. =
This is=20
your responsibly to remember! I recommend writing on the box and=20
keeping the box in a safe place. You will need this information to make=20=

ANY changes in the set-up.

Follow these instruction to make the modem/router into a modem-only
1.=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Open a browser. Click cancel when it tries to load a =
page. Go=20
to the address bar and type in 192.168.1.1, use the username <admin>=20
and the password <password>.
2.=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0You will immediately be prompted to change the =
username and=20
password, change it to the one you chose earlier. =46rom this point on,=20=

use that one.
3.=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Once you get past the password change prompt, you =
will see a=20
window that asks you to chose <next> or <cancel>. Choose cancel.
This=20
will allow you to manually configure the modem/router.
4.=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Go to the Configure menu and chose VC configuration. =
You will=20
see several VPI/VCI settings and the first one should be 0/35. DO NOT=20
CHANGE THAT. But click on the edit button.
5.=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Look for the drop-down menu that says <PPPOE> and =
change it to=20
<bridge>. Verify that DHCP is <disabled>. DO not enter any other=20
numbers in this window.
6.=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Save these settings and continue on to do the =
configuration in=20
the Ethernet card of your computer.

If you have Windows 95/98, ME
1.=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Click on Start, go to setting, go to control panel.
2.=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Double-click on the Network icon.
3.=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Locate your TCP/IP Ethernet card in the list and =
then click in=20
properties.
4.=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Start entering numbers by choosing a static IP. =
Enter the=20
following numbers in the set-up.


If you have Windows XP
1.=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Click on Start, then control panel, if on Pick a =
category view=20
click "switch to Classic view" on left side of screen
2.=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Click Network Connections
3.=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Double click Local Area Connection , click on =
Internet Protocol=20
(TCP/IP) then click on properties
4.=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Put a dot in Use following IP Address (see settings =
below)
5. =A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Put a dot in Use the following DNS Server numbers

Enter Preferred DNS Server
Alternate DNS Server

6. =A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Click OK Click OK

Follow these instructions to use the modem/router as a modem/router
