Subject: kirk's fingerall script
I've moved the new version onto woodyjr. It isn't working for 3 dialin
modem groups yet, tsarc-be-1, tsarc-nb-2, and tsarc-sr-2. It does work for
all the rest. I'll be fixing the rest of it this week (hopefully) as soon
as I can free up some time to get some help from Terry for those 3 modem
groups.
Woody doesn't have the ucd-snmp software that the new script depends
on. Sed on woody is too old to configure and compile the ucd-snmp software
and I'm too lazy to upgrade it. Depending on how soon woodysr is turned on
I may just put it on that and skip woody.
To use it, just type fingerall username. This is what it will look like:
Jubal@Woodyjr>fingerall bgmunch

--------
username= bgmunch
slot= "slot:8/mod:22"
connect speed= 45333
IP address= 63.174.205.177

Or just type fingerall and it will give you a report of all the users
online at all the modem groups. Useful if you only know a part of the
username, then you can still pipe it through grep and get a list of all
matching usernames. It will only report back on EXACT matches to usernames
when you give it a username to locate. One caveat there, I know some
people put an @wcnet.org after their login name in the dialups, which will
not match and not return any username report. In that case run it without
a username and pipe it through grep to find it. It should also report back
all instances of that username, to help catch those who give out their
usernames and passwords to friends. If you don't match any usernames it
will only return the hostnames it's querying. At the end you'll get some
error messages about the netservers not working. Don't worry about that
for now. Also, if one of the modem banks is unreachable it will warn you.
Let me know what you think.
